Description
The cognitive interview method tries to mentally reinstate the
environmental and personal context of the crime for the victim and the
witness. Questions like, “Tell me how you felt that day. What did you
hear? What was the weather like?” help the victim and witness to
remember. Some interviewers reported that allowing witnesses to talk
backward from the recent time to the incident helps to recall details.
