Description
In 1500–2000 words, compare and contrast at least two novels from the first half of the
semester (The Coquette, The Last of the Mohicans, and/or The Blithedale Romance),
and explore what each reveals about the early American experience and its evolving
literary representations. For example, your analysis may focus on nationalism, gender,
class, morality, immigration, assimilation, and more. I am leaving this open-ended so
that you have the freedom to explore the topic(s) that most interest you.
Your paper must be MLA formatted, typed, using 12pt, Times New Roman font,
with 1–inch margins, and include a works cited page. Do not use any outside sources
for this essay.
