Description
Assignment 1 – 300 words APA
It is often stated by those in the media, by those in the general public, and by college students that, regarding criminality, women are catching up to men, women are committing more crimes, women are becoming more violent, etc. The question is, are these really true statements?
After reading the article, and thinking about how female offenders were treated in the past, are there any societal changes that are affecting the ideas about female offending stated above?
Asssignment 2 – An annotated bibliography is a document that summarizes articles you read. Each entry include an APA citation (Links to an external site.)of the article and a short summary of what the article discusses. The topic for this semester is juvenile crime. For this assignment you will include an APA citation and short summaries of 3 journal articles that look at the relationship between juveniles and crime.
When you conduct your initial literature review search you’re going to get a lot of results, so read the abstracts and see which articles match the topic best. For this exercise, just look for articles that discuss what types of crimes juveniles commit. Some of those articles will focus on why juveniles commit crime, avoid those, choose articles instead examine the types of crimes and how many juveniles commit.
I am including a link to the Department of Justice’s Juvenile Justice Annotated Bibliography https://s3.amazonaws.com/static.nicic.gov/Library/027879.pdf (Links to an external site.) You may use this to help you choose a topic and to get an idea of what an ABib looks like. However, the format they use is not APA and it appears they copy and paste portions of the sources, you must use APA style and summarize the articles in your own words.
Your article summaries, should include:
- The problem they are studying (You will find this in the introduction)
- What the research says about the problem (You will find this in the literature review)
- What the research question is (You may find this in the introduction, literature review, and methodology)
- Who they sampled (You will find this in the methodology)
- The method used to answer the question (You will find this in the methodology)
- The results of the study (You can find this in the discussion and conclusion sections)
